Drone footage was collected around Kalamazoo Lake on July 8, 2020 and August 22, 2021 by a scientist from the Michigan Tech Research Institute. The videos below include footage of the lake from I-196 to the Kalamazoo River leading out to Lake Michigan. Footage from both years shows extensive coverage of floating vegetation, particularly between I-196 and Blue Star Highway and the eastern portion of Kalamazoo Lake, though the area impacted in 2021 is substantially lower than in 2020.
